Studio Considerations and Rates
Is In the Chips the Right Studio for Your Project????

We work mainly with solo artists or small combo type groups. We specialize in
traditional acoustic instruments and classic rock instrumentation. We have
recorded 80's pop as well but are at our best when working closely with a
songwriter or performer and working out new arrangements for well written
tunes. We love doing full length album/CDs but have done demo singles and
four song samplers. We have 24 tracks available on a dedicated drive for
storage but EVERYTHING runs through our analog board because we like the
sound it delivers to our clients. (They do too!) We also have 16 track/1 inch reel
to reel tape if the client prefers the entire signal chain to be analog. We have
worked with solo singer/guitar players who put down a rhythm and vocal track
and then have us play/add the rest of the instrumentation. Typically in those
situations the singer will sing their own harmonies but we can provide harmony
singers if necessary. Usually drums, bass, lead, and fill instruments are added in
those cases to end up with an 8 to 12 track song which we master down to
stereo and burn to a master CD which the client takes from the studio. They then
either use our duplicating service or seek one on their own. (See more studio news.)
We charge an hourly rate of $17.50 for all services except duplication which is
billed by the 'run'. (Please click the How Much $$$ for a better explanation.) We also expect
our clients to put in a good word for other In the Chips produced albums and
artists when their music is similar in nature and they like the album. (They will try
to sell YOUR CDs too!) We want our clients to have success here and be so
happy with the results that they return for future projects. Please look us over
