Out From Under the Covers has
been a work in progress over the last
several years. In addition to the many I
have recorded or filed, I have written
about four dozen songs (And counting!)
that just never seemed to 'fit' the mood or
genre of the other albums that I have
worked on alone and with others. They
kept getting set aside for one reason or
another but the songs were great in their
own right. Finally in February of 2008,
after persistent urging from patient fans
and family, I locked myself in the studio
and didn't come out until I had an album.
All songs were written and recorded by Dave
Morehouse (c.2008) and all instruments and vocals
were played and sung by Dave Morehouse. (ASCAP)

My apologies to all those who wanted
some of my other songs to appear on this
album. Perhaps in the future I will be
'locked away' until another album comes
out. Until that time.....I hope that you are
able to enjoy the 13 that made the cut
and are on Out From Under the Covers.
I Can Hold You (3:21) This is a rather
straightforward rock tune. The trumpets make up
the 'hook' for the song. After describing all the
things that can't be done the most powerful of
statements "I Can Hold You" provides resolution to
the song. This is a personal fave of mine and that's
why it sits on the pole position for the album.
Sometime Special (3:36)  A song about a
person's inability to tell someone else how they feel
about them. Listen carefully for the cardboard box
which is played by an old set of drum brushes.
I Fell Into Your Eyes (3:35) This is a rockin'
love ballad based on one of humankind's greatest
weaknesses. The eyes truly are windows to our
very souls.
Only You (4:25)  A slow ballad with a mixture of
nylon strung classical and distorted electric guitars.
For me, this one was the most fun to record. It
harkens back to a day when I cranked the amp and
let her rip playing fills betwixt the vocal lines.
I'm Comin' Home (4:05) This song has been
best received by live audiences and is often
requested "across the bandstand". My four note
harmonica skills are at the forefront of this
recording. The heavily effected Gibson SG (Chorus
pedals rock!) keeps the rhythm going throughout.
Love At First Sight (4:05) Piano and acoustic
guitar combine to form a background for the
saddest of events. Love at first sight which turns
into an unrealised yearning.
Do Me (3:45) Heavy synths and wailing harmonies
emphasize the hapless plight of the young
runaway. This isn't a smile over breakfast tune.
Crazy (5:07) Another particular fave of mine off this
album. I love the chorus for this song. The chorus
was written in 1997 but I never liked the rest of the
song. Over the next ten years I wrote three different
melodies and four different sets of lyrics to this
song. What you hear on the album is the only one I
was ever happy with. I am glad I stuck it out.
It Still Hurts (4:19) Another chorus that was
written long ago. I changed the song entirely and
kicked it up several notches. This one taps out at
about 145 beats per minute so put your crazylegs
on for this one.
Please Come Back (3:31) A tune about a
problem that every relationship encounters sooner
or later. One person is waiting up late for the other
to get home. I may have done too much personal
research for this song prior to writing it. If the vocals
sound a little too whiny it's because they were
meant to be that way!
Let's Go To Milwaukee (3:20) Comic relief for
the album done in a style well suited for audience
participation. I'll say no more........
What The Fire's For (3:24) Two people who are
on the rebound find each other and discover all that
they need. A variety of instruments and a muted
vocal help to get the message across to the listener.
Harley Song (My Harley Davidson) (1:51) A
simple and straight ahead ballad about a couple's
love for their ride. This is done in 3/4 time for those
of you who are waltz inspired!
All songs were written and recorded by Dave
Morehouse (c.2008) and all instruments and
vocals were played and sung by Dave
Morehouse. (ASCAP)
